Ethan B. Tidwell

Mr. Tidwell is the Managing Attorney for Boyd Law, APC’s Los Angeles office in Century City, where he manages a team of associates and paralegals. He has focused exclusively on family law since 2018. Prior to joining family law practice, Mr. Tidwell spent two years as a legal research clerk exclusively with the Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Division. During this time, he worked directly with various Family Law judicial officers, assisting them with rulings on Requests for Orders and trials, and providing legal research support on complex family law issues. This experience gives him a unique understanding of the family law system. It ensures that his case strategy is precisely tailored to give clients the best possible chance to achieve their desired outcomes at hearings and trials.

Mr. Tidwell is recognized as a top litigator in the field of high net worth divorce litigation and child custody matters, including, but not limited to, being named to the Thomson Reuters Rising Stars list for Southern California since 2024.

Mr. Tidwell employs a settlement-first approach to his practice, understanding that this often produces the best outcome for clients, especially when considering the reduction in Parties' attorney’s fees and stress from litigation. That said, Mr. Tidwell also recognizes that in order to achieve favorable settlements, parties to family law matters must be prepared to litigate if necessary, which is why he does not shy away from litigation or trial when a reasonable settlement cannot be reached.

In California, and especially within the Los Angeles Superior Court system, Mr. Tidwell has successfully litigated several high net worth long cause trials and has obtained multiple six-figure attorney’s fee awards, as well as millions in property awards for his clients. He is trusted to handle high-stakes matters, including, but not limited to, divorce, complex custody disputes, move-away litigation, domestic violence restraining orders, and post-judgment modifications. Mr. Tidwell is also skilled in drafting and negotiating prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and is known for resolving matters with discretion and care.

Mr. Tidwell obtained his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School and earned First Honors in Commercial Law. During law school, he clerked for the Honorable Richard Fruin Jr. and worked on the high-profile restitution matter involving former Clippers owner Donald Sterling. These experiences gave him invaluable skills in both trial and settlement contexts.
