Yolanda Annette Slaughter

As one of the firm’s Senior Associates, Ms. Yolanda Annette Slaughter specializes in Labor and Employment Law.

Ms.Slaughter received her Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justicewith an emphasis in Corrections from California State University LongBeach. Ms. Slaughter attended Western State University College of Lawwhere she received her Juris Doctor degree, graduating cum laude. Shereceived Bancroft-Whitney American Jurisprudence awards in Property,Trust and Remedies.

Ms. Slaughter was a full timeJudicial Extern for the Honorable Warren J. Ferguson, Senior Judge ofthe United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Ms. Slaughterreceived the BLSA Distinguished Student and Public Service Scholarshipin 1998. Ms. Slaughter also received the Dean’s/Board of Trustees’Scholarship in 1998 and 1999.

Ms. Slaughter is anadjunct professor at Santa Ana City College with the BusinessAdministration’s American Bar Association’s accredited paralegalprogram.

Ms. Slaughter has represented employees ina variety of employment related matters, including sexualharassment,discrimination based on age, race, sex, national origin,religion and disability, along with wage and hour violations, breach ofcontract and wrongful termination. She has appeared in state andfederal court, and before administrative agencies including the U. S.Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor andStandards Enforcement, and the California Department of Fair Employmentand Housing.

Ms. Slaughter has appeared in bothstate and federal court and is an experienced litigator, havingsuccessfully tried employment related matters, including sexualharassment and religious discrimination cases.

Ms. Slaughter is alsoexperienced in alternative dispute resolution, having assisted manyclients in obtaining favorable resolutions to employment disputesthrough mediation and direct settlement negotiations.

Ms.Slaughter is admitted to practice in all state courts of the State ofCalifornia and the United States District Court for the Central andEastern Districts of California.
