About Craig

Learn Craig’s areas of practice.

Practice areas
  1. Employment and labor
    Wage and Hour

  2. Class action
In 2017 combined with 2018, his firm had settled 98 class actions for more than 104,000 workers as lead or co-lead counsel for a total amount over $51 million.

  3. Discrimination
    Multi Plaintiff cases

Craig Ackermann has obtained class certification in 8 contested class certification motions since 2008, including one in December 2018 for over 4,000 truck drivers in a still-pending wage/hour case, and another one in mid-2017, in a trucker rest break case for 540 drivers that settled for $2.95 million. In 2016, after 7 years of litigation against a different trucking company, he has obtained a $1.2 million fee award on a contested fee motion in a class action where the total recovery to the class, including fees, was over $3.3 million. In the early 2000s, he was the second chair on a $23.5 million settlement for 150 female workers in a case that, at the time, was the 2nd largest sexual harassment case in US history.

In addition to truck drivers, sales representatives, farmworkers, security guards, and restaurant workers, he represents senior executives in private equity and fortune 1000 companies in contract and stock options cases, severance negotiations, and high-stakes litigation.

Craig Ackermann’s growing practice in Washington, where, along with Texas and California, he is now licensed led to our opening of a new Tacoma office. He is excited for 2019 and beyond!

Labor Lawyer Supremo
My co-workers and I weren’t being paid correctly. We all had a sense of something wrong, but couldn’t quite pin down the details. Without the details, we saw no way of clarifying the pay questions. However, separately, we asked our employer about this, in case there was a mistake or some other explanation. None was offered. Most of us, including myself, found better employment. Some of us kept in contact discussing the former employer’s actions wondering if there was some solution such as State involvement. Labor Board, etc. Even though I didn’t have a lot of research time, I found “Ackermann & Tilajef, P.C.” After the first consultation, I told many of my friends and former co-workers. Turned out that we had a class-action law suit. Working with Craig Ackermann, Mike Malk, The paralegals, and all their excellent interns, was more than a business relationship for me. It was an excellent educational experience. The lessons I’ve learned are as valuable as the compensation they recovered. One valuable lesson is the machinations some employers continually go through to rip off their employees. I ask: “Isn’t it cheaper to obey the law, pay what you’re obligated to, rather than pay company lawyers?” The answer is obviously: “No.” However, with Craig, Mike, and their associates. Such employers might reconsider their legal strategies. Like, obey the laws in the first place. I am very grateful to Craig. You didn’t just get compensation for me and my co-workers. You got us our confidence back, knowing that someone’s watching out for the working folk.

"I have known and worked with Craig Ackermann for over 15 years. Craig is a superb lawyer. He is smart, knowledgeable, experienced and highly skilled. His track record of success reflects his rich talent and deep commitment to his clients. Craig and I worked side-by-side for three years on the largest sexual harassemnt case ever brought without government involvement, and achieved a very successful outcome for 150 immigrant workers. The case was fiercely litigated and Craig was an invaluable asset on every level. I endorse Craig Ackermann with confidence and enthusiasm."
