BEWARE

Hiring Shahbod and his Kerendian Law office for a real estate matter turned out to be a mistake. When I hired Mr. Kerendian, I had a hazard on my property. So there was some urgency to get my case resolved. The problem was that his firm waited WEEKS to substitute into my case, which obviously pr...evented any filings and caused delays. Unfortunately, Mr. Kerendian’s showed no accountability or empathy and responded, "We aren't breaking any laws.” Then Mr. Kerendian proceeded to become angry and began yelling at me. Then he threatened to quit just for my wanting to discuss the matter. After the firm finally got around to filing paperwork for a default, Mr. Kerendian reached out and congratulated me afterwards for the request being entered. But the only problem was that the court documents reflected different. But the attorney figured the court erred. So I asked Mr. Kerendian to check with the clerk’s office to verify. But he refused and said we would be fine. Then months later at our next hearing, his firm ended up arguing with the judge after being informed that it had erred and our default request indeed had been rejected. Turns out that so much time and energy and money had been wasted all because the Kerendian firm failed to do their due diligence and serve all the proper parties in my case. So I found myself addressing yet another egregious error by the firm, and having to listen to Mr. Kerendian refuse to take any responsibility. Instead, the firm played the victim role and claimed they were being "attacked", then requested to be subbed out of my matter. All after I paid nearly $20,000 dollars for a case supposedly in default. Even with all the damaged caused to my case, as well as my being overcharged, the Kerendian firm refused to return the fair portion of money I requested. So my family is taking the firm to court. We also fittingly filed an official complaint with the California State Bar. I just wanted to share my experience. My mistake was that I failed to do a thorough background check, including reviewing the firm’s past court records. I am an Air Force veteran and this is my true and sworn testimony.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
