Let me start by saying this: if I had to describe Ms. Latanya Sewell in one word, it would be stellar, but even that feels like an understatement. In fact, “stellar” barely scratches the surface. If there were a legal Hall of Fame, she wouldn’t just be inducted into it… she would be running it, organ...izing it, and probably improving it. That is the level of excellence we are talking about. That kind of energy is rare, and it makes a world of difference when you are going through something difficult. At the same time, she will absolutely tell you the truth. Whether it’s what you want to hear or not. And that is one of her greatest strengths. She is not there to comfort you with false hope; she is there to guide you with honesty and strategy. She doesn’t sugarcoat anything, and while that may be hard in the moment, it is exactly what you need in the long run. She immediately laid out a plan, requested a continuance, and got to work. While I was overwhelmed and stressed, she was focused and strategic. While I was worried about what could go wrong, she was already working on how to make things go right. That difference in mindset is everything, and it’s exactly why she is so effective. Now let’s talk about the moment that truly confirmed everything for me, the courtroom entrance.
