Cara is responsive, efficient, and a good communicator. However, I had a number of problems with her as an attorney: 1. Her oral arguments were unconvincing and not justified by written pleadings, which irritated my judge. 2. She encouraged me to fight for things that I really did not care ab...out. I did not get any of them anyway, so it was a waste of money, effort, and good will. 3. The firm as a whole (not just Cara) has very, very heavy-handed billing practices. They did work I did not ask for at tremendous expense to me, and billed me for their internal conversations about my case. They refused to continue working on my case until I paid a (huge) bill in full and replenished my entire retainer, although they were already aware payment was forthcoming imminently from another source. 4. As my case approached settlement, I was ordered (not advised) by the firm to significantly modify the terms of the deal that I had previously agreed to. I did not think was fair or good advice. I felt like the firm took advantage of the fact that I was in a desperate situation and tried to squeeze as much money out of me as possible. In retrospect, I could have gotten the same judgment by walking in the court room without any representation at all, since nothing Cara advised me to fight for was awarded, and most of what I did receive was standard. Overall Cara is knowledgable about the law, and more productive and responsive than some attorneys, but I very much regret hiring her due to the counterproductive advice, lack of strategy, and remarkable expense.

Cara was very professional and easy to communicate with. She was honest with me about how much things would cost and discouraged me from pursuing legal actions that wouldn't have been worth the money, time, or stress. She accomplished in one meeting what several attorneys and tens of thousands of dollars couldn't do. I can't say enough good things about Cara and Marlo. Cara was absolutely phenomenal. I spent a year and half in court ensconced in a deep custody battle that was tumultuous. We had several court hearings and a PPA2 prior to our final judgment. I was awarded full custody of our daughter. Less than one year later, my ex-husband filed an RFO for a modific...ation to the visitation schedule and a request to lower his support payments. Cara took the time of her own accord to review the files and paperwork as well as research the current situation in depth. She had a keen understanding of narcissism and how it plays out in the court systems, especially as it relates to custody dynamics and was realistic, thorough and succinct in all communications with me prior to our hearing, as well as caring as to what was in the best interest always for our daughter. This type of care is not found often and especially when it's matched with an aggressive and intelligent attorney. She guided me in the correct ways and requested all appropriate evidence required to establish, without a shadow of doubt, our position. Her declarations were thoughtful, clear, well written and backed by a solid understanding of the legal system, my particular case and how to support our daughters best interest. She was compassionate and succinct in her communication with me, considering costs and not taking advantage of her time and my money. She was exceptionally prepared the day of court and exemplified a superb handle of the case in support of matter. The entire case was dismissed by the judge and our current judgement remains. After the hearing, she prepared the OAH quickly, efficiently and took the time to make sure I had the correct information and contact details to make arrangements with CSSD, and move forward with managing the follow through in my ex-husbands obligations to the judgement. I would highly recommend her and this firm, especially as it relates to family law. I feel very grateful I was referred to her and would use this firm again, without a second thought, should further proceedings arise.
