Robert Joseph Hatem

Robert J. Hatem is the Managing Shareholder of the Los Angeles office of Klinedinst PC. Mr. Hatem handles various high stakes matters, including products liability, environmental, professional liability and construction in both state and federal courts. Robert has achieved notable success in numerous large and complex ‘bet the company’ matters. Recently he successfully resolved a class action suit, with potential damages in excess of $700 million, for significantly less than $1 million.

Mr. Hatem's most recent success involved his defense of a law firm and one of its named partners. The plaintiff had asserted numerous serious allegations and was seeking punitive damages. Robert successfully argued an anti-SLAPP motion, resulting in the dismissal of all claims and an award of all attorney’s fees and costs for his clients.

Active within the legal and business community, Mr. Hatem is a member of Vistage International, a chief executive leadership organization. He is also a member of Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. Mr. Hatem received his Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1996. While attending McGeorge, he was honored in the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition and was awarded Dean's List Honors. Robert was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and interned at Region 21 of the National Labor Relations Board.

Robert obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University, graduating in 1993 with Dean's List Honors. During college, Robert interned with the San Diego District Attorney's office.
