Jasmin K. Morad serves as Counsel in Klinedinst’s Los Angeles office, and co-chairs the firm’s Housing Discrimination Defense and Civil Rights group. An experienced litigator with significant trial experience, Ms. Morad’s practice focuses on resolving housing, employment, real estate, and professional liability disputes.
From July to September of 2009, Ms. Morad second-chaired a jury trial in Los Angeles that involved the defense of a landlord for vicarious tort liability based on the actions of an independent contractor’s employee. Original allegations also included liability based on discrimination. The bifurcated jury trial lasted over seven weeks and involved over sixteen witnesses. Ms. Morad handled numerous examinations and cross-examinations of several key expert and lay witnesses. She also successfully drafted and argued several motions throughout the trial, including a Kelly-Frye challenge of expert testimony and evidence. The final damages award resulted in the jury’s adoption of the defense’s calculation of plaintiff’s damages and no money awarded for future non-economic damages.
In January 2009, Ms. Morad second-chaired in a large fraud trial in San Diego, which after four days settled favorably prior to verdict. She is experienced in handling all aspects of federal and state business litigation, including discovery, depositions, and expert witness preparation.
Prior to joining Klinedinst, Ms. Morad spent close to four years in private practice in New York City focusing on large, high-profile reinsurance litigation and arbitration disputes.
Ms. Morad obtained her Juris Doctor cum laude from Syracuse University in May 2002. While in law school, she worked as a summer associate for a major international law firm in Los Angeles, and served as a judicial extern for the Department of Justice and the Honorable David E. Peebles in the Northern District of New York.
Ms. Morad also served as the Lead Articles Editor for the Syracuse Law Review, and as a member of the International Moot Court Team. She received her Bachelors of Arts from the University of California, San Diego.
