Client, 19 year old college student on a road trip from out of state on Spring Break, drives to LAX to pick up a friend flying in. His vehicle is selected for a random search as he enters LAX. A box ... is found in the car containing numerous hallucinogenic mushrooms ("magic mushrooms"). Client admits they are his and that he brought them from his out of state college to consume in Los Angeles while on Spring Break. Client was charged with one count of violating HS 11377(a) - Drug Possession. A conviction would have rendered him ineligible for any federal financial aid, including federal loans. Negotiated a dismissal upon proof of completion of 26 free narcotics anonymous classes.
