Horrible Lawyer

Do not go with this lawyer. He is lazy and never listened to me when I told him about my case. He never stood up for me and never did the things that a family lawyer should do like write letters to the other party. I paid over $3000 for his services. Sure he is nice, but that is about it. The day... of my trial he was unprepared and was flustered when the judge told him to focus on questions that were current. He could not a think on your feet and was thrown off when he could not ask his pre-prepared questions. He basically screwed up my case and my ex was able to get additional visitation days. I attempted to contact him for over 2 weeks after my court hearing. I never received a call back and only spoke to the secretary. After 2 weeks I stated that I need a call back or I would pick up my file. I received a call back saying I could pick up my files the following day. I never heard from him again. Over the last 2 weeks I demanded that he did more as my lawyer and I guess he did not want to deal with someone who required him to work for his money. Prior, to leaving Cal I requested copies of my files and was told I needed to make a $150 deposit for copies. When I called a week later I was told that they never made copies because the check was not in hand. I told his secretary that it was in the mail and they have never had a problem with payment before so why are they being this way. Another lawyer told me that was illegal that I had to give a deposit for copies of my file. When I looked at my files I notice that he had told the other parties that I was willing to negotiate a lot of my case. I did was told by him to use my demands as a negotiation tool yet he was the one telling the other party the opposite. He was easy going to thrown in the towel with all my demands. He also told the other party the opposite of what I had discussed with him. Cal agreed he would back me up on wanting full custody, but paperwork sent to the other party said I was asking for joint. Please make sure you get copies of all communication between parties! What ever you do, STAY AWAY from CALLISTUS ANYAETO. This guy is a jack of all trades (does all kinds of legal work) and master of none! Total waste of money and takes advantage of clients situation.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
