Andras Fanfeiro Babero

Andras Fanfeiro Babero has had a long and distinguished career in both law and banking.  Mr. Babero formerly served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of PriMerit Bank, Federal Savings Bank from 1981 to 1994. He founded his own law firm following the sale of PriMerit Bank. Mr. Babero co-founded Commercial Bank of Nevada in 1994, and served as a member of its Board of Directors, Chairman of the Audit committee, and a member of the Assets and Liabilities, Loan, and Human Resources committees. He helped increase the bank’s assets to approximately $330 Million. Commercial Bank was sold to Colonial Bank, and Mr. Babero served as a member of its Board of Directors until 2000.

Mr. Babero acquired Commercial Financial Mortgage, a multi-state mortgage bank, where he served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Babero is well-regarded in the banking industry, and was requested to serve as an asset manager for Silver State Bank, following it’s being placed in receivership by the FDIC in 2008.

Mr. Babero was appointed by former Governor Bob Miller as a member of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, where he served as Vice Chairman. He was appointed by the Las Vegas City Council to its Planning Commission, where he served as Chairman and Vice Chairman. Mr. Babero also served as Vice Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of Las Vegas Sister Cities, and was made an honorary citizen of the city of Phuket, Kingdom of Thailand. He was awarded a pin celebrating Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej fiftieth anniversary of his reign.

Mr. Babero is a member of the Nevada Bar, American Bar Association, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and a Colleague of the Nevada Law Foundation. He has been a frequent speaker and writer on business, banking, and legal topics.  His civic activities include having served as President of Southern Nevada Public Television, a Vice Chairman of Nevada Public Radio Corporation, Vice Chairman of the Nevada Institute of Contemporary Art, a member of the Board of Directors of the Las Vegas Art Museum, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Latin Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Babero’s practice areas include complex financial litigation, and domestic and international financial and commodities transactions.  These services include attorney escrow and paymaster services for commodities transactions in full compliance with the U.S. Patriot Act, IRS requirements, and “Know Your Client” policies.
