Amanda has spent her career in pursuit of helping others. Amanda began her journey at University of California, Davis, where she received a department citation for her service as the President of Psi Chi – The International Honor Society in Psychology. Amanda ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Upon graduation, Amanda moved to Las Vegas to work as a claims manager for a local personal injury firm. From this experience, Amanda realized that her compassion for clients and her ability to empathize gave her an edge—making her an outstanding advocate. With this realization as her motivation, Amanda applied to—and was accepted by—UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law.
Throughout her first year at Boyd Law, and influenced by her psychology degree, Amanda took note of the incredible amount of stress that both law students and attorneys cope with daily. Driven by her desire to help others, her passion for psychology, and her innate need to solve problems, Amanda researched how stress influences the brain’s biology, as well as stress symptomatology in student and attorney performance. With her research findings, Amanda spearheaded Boyd Law’s mindfulness movement, creating programming to help students achieve optimal success through mental wellness. Amanda continues to teach classes to attorneys, where she explains how stress negatively affects brain chemistry and how exercise, combined with meditation, can reverse those effects and, in turn, make them more effective advocates.
Amanda further contributed to Boyd Law School by serving as a Student Bar Association class representative, President of the Nevada Justice Association: Student Chapter, and as a member of Boyd’s Wellness Committee. Finally, as a Boyd Law student, Amanda co-founded the Nevada Justice Association Mock Trial Competition which continues today. This endeavor not only demonstrates Amanda’s dedication to becoming an excellent trial attorney, but also shows her commitment to bettering Nevada’s legal community. Through this competition, students now have the rare opportunity to practice their advocacy abilities in a trial setting before leaving law school.
Amanda spends her time using her unique background and talent to aggressively pursue justice for her clients. In her spare time, she gives back to the community by practicing as a Children’s Attorney Project pro bono attorney through the Nevada Legal Aid Center.
