This is ‘that attorney’

I consulted with three attorneys regarding a dispute with my neighbor. Mr Marx was one. The other two both said that the statutes didn’t support my claims. Both cautioned me that there would be a few attorneys out there who would take my case just to get my money. Mr Marx said he felt I had a case. W...hen I asked him about the statutes, he told me he had ways around them. He told me he’d have me sign a representation agreement and pay a retainer. I felt weird about him so I said I’d talk to my family and get back to him. I wanted to believe he could help me. But after I calmed down, I started searching him online. Eventually, I realized he was ‘that attorney.’ He just wanted my money.

Don't Do It - Keep Your Money

Space does not provide for the entire story but long story short? Mr Marx took me on as a client long enough to change my August court date which is done & over with, to January next year. This act, in & of itself, spent my remainder retainer monies then not having a pot of money left, he withdrew ...as my attorney. I have to go to court by myself in January for a case that should have been resolved in August but I took Mr. Marx' advice & now not only is all the money I paid him gone, I have to stand alone in court because I don't have enough money left to hire a "new" attorney. How can someone who makes in a day what I make in a month, make me homeless like this with a clear conscience? Not to mention clearly he's looking forward to my losing in court in January. Happy Freaking New Year!!!!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
