Documenting my experience with Attorney Haley for public record to show how clients are treated when accountability is absent.

I am writing this review because silence protects misconduct. My experience with Attorney Shaun P. Haley demonstrates how easily a client can be financially exploited while receiving little to no legal service in return. I am writing this review to warn others so that no one else experiences what I ...did with Attorney Shaun P. Haley of Dempsey, Roberts & Smith, Ltd.I retained Mr. Haley over two months ago for an employment related matter. During this entire period, I received no substantive legal services from him, despite being billed monthly. This length of delay is unreasonable, particularly given that this was not a complex custody or marital case involving multiple parties. It was a straightforward personal employment matter. To make the process as efficient as possible, I completed nearly all of the preparatory work myself, including drafting the letters needed for my case. These drafts were reviewed by other professionals prior to submission. My only request to Mr. Haley was to mail the finalized letter, as I did not have the means to do so myself at that time. This task should have taken no more than a few days. Instead, two months passed with no action. Despite repeated follow ups, the work was not completed. During this time, I continued to be billed. If Mr. Haley was unable or unwilling to handle my case, he should have disclosed that at the outset so I could seek more professional representation elsewhere and avoid unnecessary financial loss. Communication with Mr. Haley was consistently dismissive and unprofessional. He routinely interrupted me, redirected conversations without addressing my concerns, and on at least one occasion raised his voice at me when I questioned inconsistencies in his statements. This behavior is unacceptable in any professional setting, particularly in a field that requires judgment, emotional regulation, and ethical responsibility. Additionally, I drove 45 minutes for a scheduled appointment, only for Mr. Haley to not appear. I was neither notified in advance nor offered compensation for my time or travel. Requests for reimbursement and billing review went unanswered. There were also clear contradictions between what I was told verbally and what was later claimed. For example, I was informed by office staff on January 21, 2026 that a finalized letter would be completed that day. This did not occur. Mr. Haley later retracted prior commitments and altered his account of what was promised, despite the fact that calls are recorded. At every step, I acted in good faith, revised documents when asked, and complied with all stated requirements. Even after doing work that should have been handled by counsel, the promised follow through never happened. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Attorney Shaun P. Haley. The lack of action, harmful communication style, billing practices, and unprofessional conduct created unnecessary stress and financial burden. Clients deserve transparency, accountability, and respect, none of which I received. I strongly encourage anyone considering this attorney to proceed with caution and document every interaction carefully like I do.
