Totally incompetent

My (now) ex-husband was represented by Pamela Faris, a member of Sandia Law. His decision to hire Faris was a huge mistake that cost us both time and money. Her gross incompetence, failure to follow through, failure to provide requested documents, failure to meet court assigned dates led my lawyer ...to file 11 Motions seeking sanctions from Faris. On the day of the court hearing on this matter, Faris arrived 10 MINUTES LATE TO A 30 MINUTE HEARING. The Judge had to call her office from the bench to see if she was coming. Her totally unprofessional behavior extended our divorce settlement by over 4 mos. Her refusal to behave in a professional manner or respond in a reasonable time cost me over $20,000 in additional legal fees. Facilitation had to be canceled 2x because we couldn't get her to share documents we learned had already been provided. She sent 1 page of multiple page bank statement for example. At the Facilitation that was finally held in June, we learned from the Facilitator that she had the requested documents we were unable to see. Faris had told us repeatedly that her client was the problem and she was 'trying' to get the documents. That was a lie. I kept a log of all communications from my attorney, all the annotated bills that showed emails to Faris (which I had to pay for), and a binder with all email communications and legal filings. I can prove everything I said in this comment.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
