Heidi Deifel is a 2005 graduate from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law. A passionate advocate for the empowerment of immigrants and crime victims, Ms. Deifel has served as prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, administrative law judge, municipal court judge, and immigration law attorney.
Ms. Deifel is a fluent Spanish speaker. As a missionary for her church, she dedicated a year and a half to serving immigrants living in Washington D.C. Prior to her graduation from law school, Ms. Deifel also completed a clinical internship at the Multicultural Legal Center in Salt Lake City, Utah where she aided Spanish-speaking victims of crimes to apply for legal status in the US.
After law school, Ms. Deifel prosecuted misdemeanors in municipalities in the Salt Lake valley in Utah. In 2006, Ms. Deifel joined the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office where she prosecuted crimes on the Juvenile, Screening, and Felony Drug Teams. While with that office, Ms. Deifel handled a wide range of complex, high-profile matters including juvenile sex offenses, child endangerment cases, felony drug matters, and vehicular homicide.
In 2010, Ms. Deifel was appointed the Administrative Law Judge for the city of South Salt Lake in Utah where she heard appeals from decisions made by the city's agencies. In 2012, Ms. Deifel opened her own law firm in Wyoming where she successfully handled family law matters, civil suits, and criminal defense cases. She also became a municipal court judge for the City of Casper, Wyoming where she presided over misdemeanor criminal cases.
In 2016 Ms. Deifel moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she worked on complex, federal criminal matters. She also served as an immigration attorney at a prominent local law firm where she successfully handled a wide array of immigration cases. In 2018, Ms. Deifel opened Law Office of Heidi Deifel P.C. where she proudly serves immigrants in New Mexico in pursuing their immigration dreams.
Ms. Deifel lives in Albuquerque with her family. She is a professional violinist and pianist and an avid world traveller. She loves Latin American food and makes a pretty mean pulled pork taco.
