David K Wilhelmsen

David K. Wilhelmsen is one of the managing partners at Favour & Wilhelmsen PLLC. He joined the firm in 1981 where he has practiced continuously thereafter. His practice ranges over a broad spectrum of civil practice areas. And although his primary focus is providing legal services in Yavapai County he provides services for clients located throughout the United States and abroad.

Mr. Wilhelmsen is certified by the State Bar of Arizona in real estate law, however, that is but one of many areas in which he offers services. Approximately one-half his practice involves civil litigation, trials and appeals. The remaining half involves real estate transactions, probates, trusts and estates, and creating business entities such as corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships. 

The civil litigation component of Mr. Wilhelmsen’s practice is premised upon carefully analyzing the merits of his clients’ claims or defenses early on so that a focused strategy can be developed to achieve a positive result. His litigation practice spans over most all areas of law. And he will only advance a case he genuinely believes is well supported by law.  When he makes the decision to undertake a case he will aggressively pursue his clients’ goals. His practice includes preparing and presenting cases at the trial level and representing clients on appeal. Of course, if during any stage of a legal proceeding an opportunity for a reasonable settlement appears he will orchestrate a result to the complete satisfaction of his clients. The primary goal is to accomplish the clients’ desired result; however, equally important is the clients’ being fully informed about their case and having confidence their best interests are being served. He appears in both state and federal trial and appeal courts.

The business and transactional components of Mr. Wilhelmsen’s practice involves counseling and advising a broad spectrum of business men and women from the purchase or formation of their businesses, though their operation and eventual sale or winding up. From large corporations to small family business, a full range of services is provided in a timely and competent fashion.

His real estate practice involves both litigation and transactions where he provides a full range of services in sale and lease transactions in both the commercial and residential represents owners, lenders, borrowers, developers, and real estate professionals in assisting with all their real estate needs. His practice areas include ownership disputes, title disputes, boundary disputes, foreclosures, construction disputes, partition actions and easements.

Mr. Wilhelmsen’s practice also emphasizes probates and wills, and trusts and estates, having practiced in these areas for most his career. This includes building an estate plan from inception to meet the goals of the client. Simplicity and cost efficiency are the primary objectives in selecting between the range of estate planning vehicles available to his clients. And should death occur he stands ready to implement his clients’ wishes through a probate proceeding or trust administration while remaining sensitive to his clients’ desires and the family’s grief.

He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court of Arizona. He received a B.A. from University of Arizona in 1978 and his J.D. from Arizona State University in 1981.
