A complete disaster

Hiring this lawyer has been a very, very bad move. She got recommended to me by a friend who did his visa with her successfully several years ago. First of all, she advised me into a wrong route (H1B), and would she be really cared (or was she experienced?), we shouldn't have applied for this vis...a at all. She would take 15 days most of the time to get back to me, and I had to go back to my home country while the visa was pending. I got an RFE on the H1B and had to pretty much prepare everything on my own, after we sent it back I emailed her several time to get a status updated. She would not get back to me and when I called to get a status she got upset on the phone and very unprofessional. I finally figured out the status of the case on my own by finding the case number only to discover it was denied. I cannot blame her for a denial of case, but I blame her for routing me in this path in the first place, providing no guidance or insight, being unprofessional, not responding to emails or calls, pricey compared to much more able lawyers, and not reliable. It was a complete waste of time and money, it felt like taking $5,000 and pouring it in the drain. Not counting the lost opportunity which has a much higher cost. And this was 1 year ago, so I am over it now. What's more when I hired an other lawyer in San Francisco and he looked at the case she prepared his first word were "I am so sorry that you had to deal with her", the business brochure was not even printed correctly, and was sent just like that to the USCIS! An absolute joke! I have never prepared an H1B case, but I am pretty confident that I would have done a much better job preparing it entirely by myself. Oh and I forgot, that friend who recommended her to me, file for a visa for one of his employee around the same period, which got denied too. No surprise here.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
