Needs a New Job

My relative was forced to accept a plea deal because of her. Horrible attorney- only met my relative 4 times, once every year he was held in jail waiting for a trial date. Had the audacity to call my fam and ask us to help convince him to take the deal, asked if we had sympathy for the victim. My rel...ative didn't do anything. Supposed crime never happened. There was no evidence, no dna, motive, nothing. Supposed victim was angry because my relative wouldn't give her money and made the whole thing up. She clearly made up her mind at the beginning not to care about my relatives case. Wouldn't answer phone calls, didn't care about evidence we had. Just wanted it to be settled. Spent the entire time when my relative was in court chatting with the prosecution. Unprofessional at best. If you need a public defender for a loved one, take my advice. ANYONE ELSE.

wouldn't let me choose 3 stars! Had to pick 5 or only 2!

Rachel was very nice, very professional, and knowledgeable, but incredibly hard to get ahold of. She never answers work phone, let's the voicemail answer. I never sleep very well, n when I do sleep I hear nothing, definitely not my cell phone, unfortunately. So I would leave her a voicemail asking he...r to please leave the info I am seeking because nobody touches my phone but me, but she never would! Also, she did not come to the jail to discuss the plea offer, so my family comes clear across town for court at Oh dawn thirty, n judge had to reschedule until lawyer could come discuss the plea with me! So she could have been better at keeping in touch. And seriously, after 9 months in jail just to restore my competency, which is more time than I would have done for the crime, they offered me 1-3 yrs probation, up to judge! No, cut me loose, done deal! But I took the deal, because if I didn't, it would have been worse! So she could have done better for me. I was not competent when I committed the crime! On meds now and am just FINE!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
