I am a former teacher and have practiced in the area of education law since 1983. A native Arizonan, I have a unique knowledge of the legal problems facing rural school districts after representing all of the Gila and Cochise County districts during the course of that time. I have formerly served as the Chief Deputy of the Gila County Attorney’s Office and as a Deputy County Attorney with the Cochise County Attorney’s Office.

Education Law
I provide daily advice and assistance to school districts throughout the state on matters as varied as student disciplinary hearings, personnel issues, contract reviews, student records requests, governing board liability and open meeting issues. I represent and defend educational institutions in administrative and court proceedings. I have defended school districts in election law challenges, including successfully defending a challenge to an override election before the Arizona Supreme Court.
-
I have authored numerous opinions on education law which have been adopted by the Arizona Attorney General. I have lectured extensively to teachers and administrative personnel on various aspects of education law and have been a regular presenter at the Arizona School Boards Association annual Legal Perspectives Conference.
-
I have twice received the Law Related Education award from the Arizona State Bar Association. I was the Regional Director for the Student Mock Trial Program while in Gila County and now serve as an attorney coach working with students at the Sierra Vista Unified School District.
