Get What you pay for

Very simple non-contested divorce, my ex-wife and I had everything laid out. She met with us once. Before the ink dried on my $3,500 check she had cashed it as soon as we left what she calls an office. She shares an office space with another attorney, and sometimes someone answers the phone. 99...% time you just leave a message that usually doesn't get returned. If you want to do any contact with her you have to use email. Very unprofessional to just be an email attorney. We tried to get a second meeting to make sure she had all of the wording correct as her boiler plate contradicted our portions of our decree. After the decree was finalized I contacted her and she failed to get me the documents I needed for a home loan. After a few emails, one telling her I may have to contact the bar association she sent me a scanned copy within minutes with a nasty email. Nice when you first meet but after she takes the money and runs and you are hard pressed to meet with her again. I wish I would have paid attention to the other reviews, but my son recommended her Good news is everything is done.

You get what you pay for - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

I didn't use a lawyer for my divorce so was a bit lost on how to select one. I contacted Ms. Scott and she was initially responsive. She was actually listed in my legal plan through work. I decided to hire her because of the flat fee and she seemed like she understood what I was up against. Once ...I hired her, she became completely unresponsive. She works alone - no paralegals and uses a Regency type receptionist who answers all sorts of other peoples calls too and can't answer anything regarding your case. You are completely reliant on waiting for Ms. Scott to get back to you. When I was getting ready to attend mediation, I had to reach out to her to ask what I needed to do to prepare. She told me that I needed to remain calm and the mediator would be writing up a recommendation to the judge based on our responses. She also told me to bring all my notes and documentation to the mediation and bring up everything. I arrived only to find out this was completely the opposite and that if I didnt feel comfortable discussing something I shouldn't bring it up. The mediator stated that the whole process was confidential and the judge would only know that we didn't reach agreement. As a lawyer Ms. Scott should have known what type of mediation I was attending and I lost faith some faith in her. I called her immediately after it was over and had to leave a voicemail. Then I tried emailing her several times over the next few weeks and left a few more messages. After almost 3 weeks I sent a nasty email telling her the lack of responsiveness was not acceptable and unprofessional. I finally got a call from her. But she was full of excuses why she hadn't contacted me. One of which was she was on vacation. Which seems to be a theme with her because I was with her from November to March and she went on 3 extended vacations. By the time that I talked to her about my mediation, I was so upset with her and felt like I was not being represented that I decided to hire another attorney. When I asked for partial money back she sent me a list of stuff she had done (which is completely exaggerated) and she claims she spent $4060 on my case. This lawyer literally filed paperwork to respond to my ex in a custody matter and answered 3 emails and then talked to me 3 weeks after my mediation. My new lawyer (who is not flat fee) has done so much for me and is in constant contact when issues come up. i know what to expect and feel like I'm paying for a service that I'm getting. She is more expensive but I'm fighting for my children and I cannot put a price tag on that.

For the Win!

Mrs. Scott represented me during a very tough custody battle between the mother of my child and myself. She was very upfront with me as to what I can expect and how things could play out. I saw that she was honest and she came off as very "human" which is big for me. We worked together for over a ye...ar only to land at a victorious conclusion. Mrs. Scott is a busy woman and It is important to understand that patience is best in dealing with any case. There were times when I became anxious, but there wasn't anything that couldn't be done in time. I definitely appreciate her for all of her efforts.

Better off burning your money and representing yourself.

Christina Scott offered me a free hour consultation when I called her about my child custody case in May of 2013. She was very attentive, sat with me over an hour, looking over paperwork already filed, promising she would give me the attention my case deserved. She was amazing in the initial meeting..., I knew i had to have her on my side. That all which went to hell the moment I handed over $4,500 to her in her 'Flat Rate' Billing agreement. Once she received my money, I had to email and call her multiple times to get any status on my case, ask her why hadn't she filed documents or provided motions I had asked for. She didn't even bother to let me know she received the money and signed representation agreement when I delivered it to her office. She operates her office alone, out of a rental suite. Which means, if she's not in the office, there is NO ONE you can talk to about your case. The lady who answers the phones, answers the phones for every office in the building. All she can do is write down a message, and hope Christina calls you back. (She won't call you back, but will charge you for reading the message.) She rarely responded to emails or phone messages, had to reschedule every court hearing because she was too busy with criminal cases to handle family court cases. After weeks of frustration with her from lack of communication (which I addressed with her weekly), failing to prepare Temporary Orders that I requested for weeks, failure to even read over the documents I provided her on day one, I decided to fire her. The nightmare took off from there. She would not return my phone calls until I sent her an email saying I was hiring new counsel, and she was fired. Remarkably, the following morning I received a rambling 3 minute VM from her about the status of my case, that I had been asking for, for over a week! Per our agreement,, I asked her for a billing statement because I knew once I fired her, I would be due some of my $4500 back. I also asked for my complete file as I was hiring new counsel. I also told her not to file anything else on my case, as my new lawyer would. She continued to file items in my case, EVEN after my new lawyer contacted her and let her know they were representing me. This included incorrect filings, and items I specifically requested she return to me and not file. She provided a billing statement saying that in three weeks, she had done almost $5,000 in work. I immediately sent her a long email questioning multiple lines of her billing statement, and asking in what increments she billed in. Her entire response and last response I received was short, and I'll paraphrase, "I bill in accordance with industry standards. You will face more charges as I wrap up my work on your case, and I'll provide you with a final billing later." She didn't respond to a single, detailed billing question that i asked. To this day, she has never responded to my emails requesting a final billing statement and explanation for the multiple billing questions and disputes I had. ( ex: she charged me for phone calls we never had, emails that were never exchanged. Documents she asked me for multiple times, that I provided to her with our billing agreement, and she returned to me with the billing statement). That's just a small example. She will suck every penny from you if you dare fire her. Her 'Flat Fee' is a farce! Once she has your money, you almost cease to exist to her. DO NOT HIRE HER! She makes you feel safe, important, like she cares about you and your kid(s), but once she has the money you're screwed!! Take your business to someone who has a office staff and charges by the hour. I have spent less with my new attorney in the past 8 weeks, then Christina Scott charged me in 3 weeks. And my new lawyer has included court hearing! Christina never saw the inside of the court with my case, but billed me almost $5,000 in 3 weeks!
