The above review sounds about right, she didn't used to be that way but now, rarely available (she should retire) and only in it for the money. Trying to get her to respond to an email or voice message is impossible......it took 3 emails, 2 voice mails and 2 months for her to respond to a simple qu...estion and then charged for it. I would pull all my business but probably would not get any cooperation in getting my files and would probably be charged for it. Best to start with a committed working attorney.

Trying to protect elderly parent results in overcharging and denial of service

I called Mary Nykamp's office on the recommendation of an elderly friend when I was having trouble with a companion of my elderly father's -- who taking financial advantage of him. I had two telephone consultations with Ms. Nykamp. I was charged for both calls though she advertises in several places ...(including her website) that the first consultation with her is free. I questioned the billing and eventually the first invoice was forgiven. Several months later, however, when I called to make an appointment for a consultation, I was told that Ms Nykamp did not want to consult with me because I had questioned the billing. This was after Ms Nykamp already had all my father's personal information and details and after I had booked an expensive flight to Arizona around the timing of my appointment with her. I was later told by the friend who recommended Ms Nykamp that she also felt she had been overcharged, but that did not feel comfortable questioning the billing. Elderly people will often not question their bills. I worry that overcharging and then intimidation may be a business model for some firms working almost exclusively with elderly people. We all have rights as citizens and consumers to question the amount we pay for services and not to be denied service because of it. Make sure you choose wisely when looking for your legal services especially in and around places like Sun City West.
