Jamaar Williams

Jamaar Williams was appointed to represent me under a City of Mesa contract. I never claimed that I privately hired or retained Litwak Law Group. The owner’s response focuses on that distinction instead of addressing the substance of my experience with Mr. Williams. My two misdemeanor cases had al...ready been pending for approximately a year without complete discovery. After Mr. Williams became my appointed attorney, I repeatedly asked him in writing to provide the discovery and identify what evidence was still missing. Despite those requests, one of the first things discussed was selecting a trial date before I had received and reviewed the complete evidence. I also gave Mr. Williams a proposed motion that I wanted filed. He told me it would not be filed in the form I submitted, but I was not given a clear alternative, proposed revision, or timeline for addressing the issues raised in it. I experienced slow or incomplete responses to direct written questions. I also objected to continuances being pursued without meaningful discussion with me beforehand while my speedy-trial time continued to be affected. The owner states that Mr. Williams regularly communicates with clients. That general statement does not answer my specific complaint about my own documented communications, discovery requests, proposed motion, and pending cases. My criticism is not based on pretending that I privately retained the firm. It is based on my actual experience with an attorney appointed to defend me: repeated requests for discovery, pressure to move toward trial without complete evidence, inadequate responses to written questions, and no clear plan for resolving the issues I raised. Based on my experience, I do not recommend him.
