I was not hired to represent Frank. I also would not consider calling the case an “accident case’ entirely accurate. However, I do not reveal confidences of my clients. I am guilty of doing a lot of things behind the scene to help my clients of which they are unaware. In criminal cases I make a habit of tracking down the prosecutor and speaking with them in an effort to get my client’s charges dismissed or reduced prior to contacting my clients in the courtroom. This can sometimes lead to the perception of being ‘late’. Some people say that no good deed goes unpunished. I do not believe in that adage. However it is tempting to agree with it at times. I work with clients on payment plans to assist them financially in some cases. The payment agreements always start in writing. Despite having the agreement in writing, clients will sometimes call and request that I push back a payment date do to financial hardship or other reasons. Sometimes multiple modifications can lead to confusion, especially if I have agreed to the modifications while I am reached on my cell phone and I do not have the client’s file to notate the requested change. I have called clients as a courtesy to make sure I am not processing a payment earlier than their requested modification when the original payment due date comes up on my calendar so as not to cause an unexpected hardship to my client.
