Laurie Baird Gaffney

I hired her for for a divorce and custody case. Then we had to reopen the custody case about a year later. The ONLY time I felt she actually did her job well was when she was fighting to have her previous associate thrown off of my ex’s case because her name was on my paperwork and would have an unfa...ir advantage. She was beyond rude and wouldn’t do anything I asked her to do. It got to the point were I was just so done because she fought me on everything that I asked her to switch my case to her associate Mr. Banks because he had covered some hearings she couldn’t attend and did a much better job. Then she strait up told me to find another lawyer. I had been working with her for over two years at that point and I had paid her at least 15k without any results. I was upset, but then I started working with a different lawyer who was SOOO much better in every single way. He never once fought me on anything I wanted and ended up getting me way more than I was asking. I wish I would have working with him from the beginning. I’m glad it worked out in the end, but I wish I hadn’t have wasted so much time, money and energy on Gaffney. Even her staff were mean, I would probably be grouchy if I had to spend my working days with her. Literally any other lawyer will do a better job, because they’ll just do the job.

I felt the "funny stories" she told me about her other clients were funny and to lighten the mood. I later realized she was probably telling the same stories about me as she belittled me. We had several meetings, phone calls, and emails where she assured me we had a solid case and would "win". She... miss filed the initial motion which got the court date set back. When we finally got to court, she didn't bring up any of the facts or evidence I had spent hours getting for her. When I tried to remind her, she harshly hushed me and told me what I was bringing up was irrelevant. I should have fired her after the asset distribution case but felt as she was educated about my ex husband and my situation she could easily handle the change in custody. She withdrew as my attorney just before the court date and didn't tell me. I got a notice from the court. Please use anyone else. She is not a good lawyer, leaving many holes in my settlement case, has not memory, and is just not a good person.

Seriously I can go for days about how unprofessional, rude, and ignorant this lawyer is, Laurie Gaffney you should not be a lawyer! When you hire Gaffney, mind as well give your child away as she will work with the lawyer against you to make you bow down, and tell you (just do it), she won't listen t...o anything you say, she will insult you with her ignorant attitude, and she will not communicate with you AT ALL, to the point you will fell you don't have an attorney having your back going through one of the hardest times there is going through a custody battle. because we hired her, we lost our son! his father has had nothing to do with him emotionally, financially and never been in the boy's life for the past 5 years, his father is very violent man with a record of assault and battery, drugs, DUI and a CPS case against him, yet he managed to get the kid for 8 weeks in the summers and I have to split the cost for the child's airfare when he is the one up and left the boy and did flee to a different state, thanks to Gaffney. We should have had 100% of the child like we did before but I hired her to preserve what we had, and ended up losing our son even for a day, the boy is 5 years old. I can go on and on and on but I will put it in a nut shell, she will start with $3000, and by the time the case is done we ended up paying her $8000!!! for one of the easiest cases there is. we were fighting for something we already had, 100% custody, hired Gaffney and we lost what we already had. you don't want to chance it by hiring this attorney, learn from my mistake please and keep your child with you and do not hire Gaffney because if you do you will remember my comment and review, and it won't stop here as I am filing a misconduct and discipline case with Idaho Bar. what I mentioned above is about 10% of what she had done to us through this case.
