Ilene L. McCauley

Ilene L. McCauley is a full time attorney with 40 years experience in estate, business and tax planning. She has been a member of the State Bar of Arizona since 1982 and has been certified by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization as a Certified Specialist in Taxation since 1983. She is a member of Wealth Counsel. 

In her words, "I am a full time attorney and mother of a lovely 24 year old daughter. My husband passed away 17 years ago and I have seen first hand the importance of planning ahead."

Perhaps this explains that, along with her exemplary educational background and expertise, her clients receive something equally important; her warmth, enthusiasm and empathetic nature. This is evident in the fact that her clients are multi-generational and that she is regularly invited to the most important, intimate events in their lives. She is experienced in advising how to provide for children with special needs in your trust. And, oh yes, even how to include your pets whether they are a valuable race horse, or your dog, Spot!

Ms. McCauley was editor and contributor to the publication Conspectus Current, produced by the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. She is a Fellow of the Esperti-Peterson Institute for Advanced Estate Planning and has completed her second post-doctoral degree in advanced Tax and Estate Planning. She has served an appointment to the Tax Advisory Commission of the State Bar of Arizona and has recently been appointed to the position of Adjunct Professor at the Estate and Wealth Strategies Institute at Michigan State University.

Ms. McCauley is a noted speaker and is well sought after for speaking and radio engagements. Some of her topics include: "Tax Planning for Small Business"; "Bridge the Gap; Basic Legal Skills"; "New Tax Legislation"; "The Charitable Remainder Trust as an Executive Benefit Tool"; "Goals and the Consultative Process"; and "Converting Stock Options to Other Employee Benefits". In addition she is certified to offer continuing education credits for insurance professionals and certified financial planners.

Ms. McCauley earned her BA from Binghampton University, her JD from Hofstra University School of Law, and her LLM (Master of Laws in Taxation) from DePaul University School of Law. She was named Arizona’s Outstanding Young Lawyer in 1991.
