Dawn retained me to enforce her divorce decree and collect past due spousal maintenance from her ex husband. During my involvement in her case I was successful at every turn as all the pleadings and court orders in the case demonstrate. Time and time again the judge found her ex husband in contempt and ordered him to pay past due spousal maintenance and attorneys fees at the risk of incarceration. Unfortunately for all concerned her ex husband lost his high paying job. He filed a petition to reduce his spousal maintenance obligation and under the circumstances was almost assured of prevailing. Dawn could not accept that the law would work that way and became so difficult to deal with that, with her written consent, I petitioned the Court to permit me to withdraw from representing her in the case. I had withdrawn before the court hearing regarding her ex husbands motion to reduce his spousal maintenance obligation- yet she blames me for costing her over $300,000 in spousal maintenance. If I had done anything to jeopardize her spousal maintenance I would be the first to admit it and would have availed her of my legal malpractice insurance which I maintain to protect my clients should problems like that occur – fortunately in my 35 years of practice I have never had a claim. Dawn never contacted me about her dissatisfaction and I wish she had. Her case concluded in mid 2006 and she did not post her review until the end of 2013- apparently with the passage of time and distortions of memory she chose to vent and malign me on AVVO. I am very sorry Dawn’s situation became so difficult for her and that she became unhappy with my services but as with every client I represent I did my best to help her achieve a favorable result in her litigation.
