Long story short- sibling was trustee of family trust, and responsible for elderly mothers care. Over a period of 5 years he embezzled her entire life savings (substantial), used here retirement and social security income as his own, failed to file her federal and state income taxes, or pay property ...taxes on her primary and investment residences. This created a major obstacle in settling the estate, as he left it basically insolvent. Chris worked diligently to resolve all tax issues by meeting with myself and my tax professional, advising us on how best to resolve the personal back tax issues, and move forward with the estate taxes to bring everything up to date. He succesfully represented the trust before the IRS, in the reallocation of personal and trust income to the responsible party, decreasing the overall tax liability to a manageable level. Additionally, through the appeals process, he obtained an abatement of the late payment, penalties and interest charges assesed by the IRS. As a result of Chris's extensive knowledge of the internal workings of the IRS, his persistence, and unwavering desire to obtain the best possible outcome for his clients, we were able to return the trust to a solvent state, resulting in a modest distribution to the beneficiaries at trust closing.
