Brad Hartman is an intellectual property and corporate lawyer with experience litigating intellectual property cases and business disputes in state and federal courts.
Brad has extensive experience counseling clients holding a broad spectrum of technologies and intellectual property rights. He helps clients of all shapes and sizes protect, license, transfer, and enforce their trademarks, patents, copyright-protected materials, Internet domain names and trade secrets. Brad clears, registers, and enforces trademarks in the U.S. and internationally, including litigation in federal courts and in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Brad helps clients pinpoint, protect, and generate profit from their intellectual property rights.
Brad is involved in drafting and negotiating complex agreements involving the acquisition, protection and licensing of intellectual property rights, as well as confidentiality, invention assignment and nondisclosure agreements. He also works with clients in recovering pirated domain names and halting the infringement of intellectual property rights on the Internet.
Brad’s clients look to him as their “outside general counsel,” seeking his advice and assistance on a variety of legal matters, from corporate to complex commercial litigation to employment.
Before founding his own intellectual property law firm in 2010, Brad was a Member of one of the oldest law firms in Phoenix, with 80 attorneys in four offices. Previously, Brad was a Partner in the Phoenix office of a 370-attorney national law firm, with offices in eight cities. Brad chaired the firm’s Phoenix office business department. Brad was selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America® 2011 in the area of Intellectual Property Law and is included in Best Lawyers in America® 2012 in the areas of Copyright Law, Litigation – Intellectual Property, Litigation – Patent, and Trademark Law.
Prior to his work in private practice, Brad served as a legal intern for the United States Supreme Court and a law clerk at the United States Department of Justice. He obtained his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his B.B.A. in Economics and Public Policy Administration from The George Washington University.
