Heather Nicole Pelaez

Heather is an associate attorney at Modern Law. She is licensed to practice law in Arizona and the United States District Court and has litigated hundreds of cases in Maricopa and Pinal Counties. Since 2015, she has devoted her practice to family law, including divorces and legal separations, property and debt divisions, spousal maintenance/alimony, paternity and parentage, parenting time and legal decision-making authority (child custody), child support, grandparent and other third-party rights, and premarital agreements. She also handles select civil matters.

As a spirited litigator who also values settlement, Heather is passionate about ensuring that her clients’ long-term interests are served throughout the court process. She is assertive when pursuing her clients’ objectives, while encouraging problem-solving and positive outcomes that safeguard their children and reduce the financial strain of litigation.

Heather obtained her bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and International Studies from the University of South Florida in 2011. She obtained her law degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2014. Prior to joining Modern Law, she was an associate at Donaldson Stewart and at the ASU Alumni Law Group.

Heather was previously the secretary of the Arizona State Bar’s Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity Council, and she has volunteered for one•n•ten and Fresh Start Women’s Foundation. Heather was selected for the Super Lawyers Southwest Rising Stars List in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Heather lives in Chandler. She is a native of Tampa, Florida, and has an insatiable appetite for coffee.
