About Thomas

Biography

We proudly serve the people of Arizona for their family court, criminal defense, appellate, and mediation needs. We include service in Maricopa, Pinal, Yavapai, Coconino, and Mohave Counties, and we offer regular video and telephone conferencing to save client travel. Call us at 602-223-1831!

Our team can help you at every level of an appeal, whether it be a motion asking the trial judge to repair a mistake, or asking the Arizona Court of Appeals or Supreme Court to review a decision with which you disagree. Our experience includes both written briefs and oral argument.

We will help you defend the best interests of your children. This includes negotiations or trials focused on decision-making authority (legal custody) and parenting time (visitation), and child support.

Whether you or a loved one faces criminal charges in superior, city, or justice court, we can help offer a defense to felony or misdemeanor charges. This includes alleged crimes involving serious, mandatory consequences, such as weapons charges, drug trafficking, and DUIs.

We litigate for every aspect of a financial divorce, including spousal maintenance (alimony), allocation of marital property and debt, and division of important assets such as real estate, businesses, and investment accounts.

Our firm routinely helps survivors of intimate partner violence, but we also also assist those who find themselves accused of domestic abuse and believe the allegation is unfair. Whether the problem has surfaced in a family court matter or an order of protection, please do not hesitate to call us.

Many people prefer a settlement approach and would prefer to avoid costly litigation and trials. We can help you down that path, whether you want us to represent you at a private mediation or court-ordered ADR conference … or serve as the mediator ourselves. We have plenty of experience with both!

Child Custody - Domestic Violence situation

I have never met someone so dedicated to another person's plight as Tom. I have dealt with other lawyers and he is the only one that ever seemed to actually CARE about me and my children and what we had been going through. No one could possibly understand a domestic violence situation more so than he... can. He is educated on current laws and judge perspectives. He was professional, yet personal enough to represent me and my children in a way that brought upon a feeling of justice and safety. Hands down just an all around good person and a great lawyer.

Dedicated & Driven

Tom was my attorney for over what seemed like a year and a half. He not only fought for me he took my case seriously and became very passionate in fighting for my rights as a mother. Tom, exposed my ex husband for the liar and scam artist he truly is. He made the court see how my ex was trying to use... the law to hurt me and further abuse me by kidnapping my son. I'm so thankful that legal aid has attorneys such as Tom working for them. In my opinion I could not have gotten a better attorney to stand up for me! Thank you Tom!

Poor communication and lazy

Had him for a year. He refused phone calls and insisted on emails only. His customer service skills is severely poor for example he doesn’t communicate well prior and after hearings. ABA also found he commited a technical violation. He failed to protect us from the abuser. Won’t recommend him at all....

We can safely say we do not refuse phone calls, and go to great lengths to explain the court process. This is especially true when the judge has made a decision that puzzles or upsets the client. We are also unaware of any "findings" by the ABA concerning "technical violations." The ABA has never contacted us about the quality of our work, and would not, since that organization is not responsible for lawyer regulation. No attorney at this law firm has ever been disciplined by the Arizona State Bar, either. Family court can be frustrating or bewildering to many people, and clients sometimes harbor unrealistic expectations because they do not appreciate how the law has to work in a given situation. That is a very human response that we do understand. We wish the best to all our clients.

Lawyer quit on my daughter with my 10k

Am shaken by this whole thing. This lawyer quit citintg ineffective communication with my disabled daughter. He promised us full representation of the trial after we paid him 10k. I am filing bankruptcy because of his unethical actions.

It is always unfortunate when the attorney/client relationship doesn't work out, but it does happen on occasion, especially when ethical rules themselves suggest a withdrawal is necessary for reasons having nothing to do with a disability. It is also important for a client's friends and family to remember that we cannot discuss the full details of a case with third persons because of mandatory confidentiality - even if that parent, relative, or friend is paying the lawyer's fee. Our firm does enjoy helping clients from all backgrounds, including those who are vulnerable or possess identified disabilities. In fact, it is a heritage and priority of which we are proud. And even though this particular representation did not work out, we still wish the former client all the best in her future endeavors.

Worst

I hired Mr. Alongi to represent me in my divorce and child custody case. I requested for a one year temporary separation for my son and wife (therapeutic reunification) which Tom in turn filed for me to give full custody to my ex-wife instead. Denying the fact that that is what I requesting all along.... I basically hired him to be on the other side against me(understated). He fought for things that is not anything I am concerned about. And, for what is relevant he did nothing. Total incompetent and totally not worth a dime ! He was highly recommended to me by Atty. Terry Pones which by now gave me the runaround and avoiding to return my calls. They are all advocate and truly concerned about one thing.... MONEY !!! Next stop state bar

Family law can often be difficult and confusing for parents and their children. We try hard to explain the law, and help people navigate this emotional experience and give them what they want. We think the available public record will show that, and do wish Patrick and his family the very best.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
