When Everything Was on the Line

If you are reading this, there's a good chance you or someone you love is facing one of the hardest moments of your life. I know that feeling all too well. When everything felt uncertain and the stakes couldn't be higher, our finding an attorney we could truly trust seemed almost impossible. For our... family, that attorney was Hayley at Cates & Reed PLLC. This isn't a review written after a routine legal matter. This comes from someone who has seen Hayley at work during one of the darkest and most frightening chapters of our lives. I can say without hesitation that she has exceeded every expectation we had. What impressed me first wasn't simply her knowledge of the law—it was her humanity. Within 24 hours of my husband's arrest, Hayley was there for his 11:00 p.m. arraignment. While most people were asleep, she was standing beside her client when he needed an advocate the most. Within the first two weeks of being transferred from intake, she had already visited him multiple times in custody. Those actions spoke louder than any promise ever could. She doesn't just tell her clients she'll be there—she proves it. She has made herself available at all hours, answering questions, returning calls, and helping us understand a process that can feel confusing and overwhelming. During moments filled with fear and uncertainty, she has been a steady, reassuring presence. She never made us feel like we were just another case number or another file on her desk. She treated us like people whose lives mattered. Our relationship with Hayley actually began long before we ever needed to hire her. We first met while I was still incarcerated. She would come to the prison for visits, and she always treated my husband with genuine kindness and warmth. Long before she became our attorney, she was someone who saw us as human beings. Knowing that Hayley's own family has experienced the criminal justice system helps explain the compassion she brings to her work. She understands that behind every case is a human being, a family, and people trying to navigate one of the most difficult experiences imaginable. That empathy cannot be manufactured. It is reflected in every conversation, every late-night phone call, every jail visit, and every moment she spends fighting for her clients. Hayley is brilliant, prepared, responsive, honest, and fiercely dedicated. But what truly sets her apart is that she never forgets the human side of criminal defense. She understands that her clients are more than the worst day of their lives, and she treats them with dignity and respect. There are many attorneys who know the law. There are far fewer who combine exceptional legal skill with genuine compassion. Hayley is one of those rare people. I hope no one ever finds themselves needing a criminal defense attorney. But if you do, I sincerely hope you have someone like Hayley standing beside you. She has earned not only our complete trust but also our lifelong gratitude. Thank you, Hayley, for answering the phone when we needed you, for showing up when it mattered most, for standing beside my husband Joshua, and for reminding our family that compassion still exists within the justice system. We will never forget what you have done for us.

Hayley Fights for You with Compassion and Drive

I can’t say enough about Hayley as my attorney during my DUI case. From the start, she had my back in a way I never expected. She went above and beyond without me even asking. When the jail didn’t have my fingerprints, she personally resolved the issue. She also secured a partial refund on my attorne...y fees when she realized I was overcharged. Thanks to her dedication, I got a much better plea deal and a huge reduction in stress. Hayley was always there, answering every question with compassion and clarity. If you need someone who truly fights for you, Hayley is the one.

Honest and helpful

I’m a woman in my 60s and, like many people, I had never needed to deal with a lawyer before. When I needed one, I started calling around to understand my options. That’s how I ended up speaking with Hayley Worrell. I ultimately did not hire Hayley, but it wasn’t because I didn’t think she would be a... great attorney. In fact, the reason I didn’t hire her is because she was so honest and straightforward with me. Over the course of about a week, I called Hayley several times while I was trying to decide whether I should hire a private attorney or continue working with a public defender and handle parts of the situation myself. Altogether, we probably spent an hour or two talking across those calls. Despite the fact that I had not hired her, she took the time to answer every single question and concern I had. She never rushed me, never made me feel like I was bothering her, and was incredibly patient with me. her honesty was refreshing. She told me very clearly that, in my particular situation, hiring a private attorney might not actually give me much additional benefit. She explained that her firm would absolutely be willing to represent me if I wanted the added peace of mind of having private counsel on my side, but she was also very upfront that the outcome could very well be the same and that it was up to me whether that extra security would be worth the cost. We’ve all heard the jokes about lawyers just being out for money and that’s how I felt when I was reaching out to different attorneys. But my experience with Hayley and her firm showed me that isn’t true of everyone. She spent a lot of time helping me understand my situation even though she knew I might never hire her and actually encouraging me not to. I really felt like she cared about what was best for me even if that meant advising me not to spend the money hiring her. If I ever find myself needing legal help again (hopefully I won’t), Hayley will be the first person I call. I don’t have personal experience with how she represents someone through a case, but based on my interactions with Hayley I truly believe that if I had hired her, she would have done everything in her power to help me get my case taken care of in the best way.
