David T. Barton

DAVID T. BARTON has focused his practice on employment law and litigation with
special emphasis on wage and hour, sexual harassment, age and disability discrimination,
drug testing, and healthcare issues. In addition to his work defending employers from
wrongful termination and discrimination claims, David provides advice and counseling to
employers concerning executive compensation and termination, employee counseling and
motivation and the creation and review of employee handbooks, contracts, and policies.
When he is not defending employers from claims by employees, David finds time to serve in
his church and loves spending time with his four children, his nine grandchildren, and
travelling with his wife and companion of 38 years. David received his Juris Doctor degree,
Magna Cum Laude, from the J. Reuben Clark Law School of Brigham Young University in
1992 where he was articles editor of the Brigham Young University Law
received his Bachelor of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Brigham Young
University in 1988, graduating as college valedictorian. During his 30-year career, David
has worked in the litigation section of the Utah Attorney General’s office (1992-1993) for the
employment law boutique of Johnson & Hatch in Salt Lake City, Utah (1993-1995) and for
the employment law group of Quarles & Brady (1995-2012). In November 2012, David and
his partner Christine Burns started the law firm of BurnsBarton, PLC.
