Biography
I am one of the few attorneys I know who set out to be a Family Law Attorney when I went to law school. I like assisting people in one of the most traumatic legal problems that they face, and enjoy the challenge of finding a resolution that works for them, and if there is not one, taking the case to trial.
I take a holistic view of my family law cases, and listen carefully to my clients needs and wants, and focus on what is reasonable. I am always willing to listen to my clients before I make any suggestions, and I usually give my clients more than one option depending on how the scenario plays out with the other partner.
The Boy Scout Motto is "Be Prepared.", and that is why I listen to my clients, so I can prepare a case around their needs, and work towards a resolution that meets those needs. Every client and case has its own distinct uniqueness, and each client is a person experiencing the no "Win" scenario of divorce. I recognize this and treat each client as a person, not just another number.
I am an avid movie fan. This helps me be quiet and observe, and soak in all of the details. I am a supporter of the arts, and an active member of the Phoenix Art Museum. I enjoy bicycling and hiking. I do both at my own pace. I also enjoy Yoga to refresh my body, mind and spirit.

Replied last September 05, 2018I apologize that you feel you were poorly represented by me. Your case was a tough one. I strive to provide personalized service to all of my clients, yet I am human, and I do occasionally fat-finger a keyboard, misdirect an email, call someone by the wrong name, or have a scheduling issue. I apologize for these mistakes on my part. I have practiced juvenile law as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney as well as a guardian ad litem. I am an experienced trial lawyer, and know that facts make and break a case. The law sets the standard, but the facts determine the outcome. Sometimes, as in your case, the facts do not line up with a client's perception of them. I was the second attorney in your case, and came into it at a late stage. The case was proceeding to trial. Your first attorney did not regularly practice in this area of the law. I do. All cases turn on evidence that supports your legal position, and your evidence was simply not that good. And the medical evidence of your care of the children was crushing. The judge found that it was not in the best interests of the children to be placed in your care and custody. Thank you for posting your concerns.

Mr. Laman actually advised me against retaining his services as there was no overall economic case.
I contacted Mr. Laman to inquire whether we should retain him to assist with some difficulty we were have with the Aveda Institute in Phoenix. Mr. Laman (for free) gave sound advice regarding the best path forward.
