Biography
I have always only been a criminal defense trial lawyer up until the beginning of 2021, when I joined the City of Phoenix Public Defender's Office as their new Assistant Director. I started my career as a Maricopa County Deputy Public Defender and after three years there went into private practice.
My devotion to the practice of criminal law has been driven by my belief that there is good in everyone. I always tried to spend time looking at my clients holistically to see past the immediate charges in order to get a better picture as to who they were as a person and go from there.
In my current position, I am still in the criminal defense fight, though now I'm representing our office fighting for what our attorneys need in order to best represent their clients. I can reflect back over 29 years as a trial lawyer and know that I had a positive impact on hundreds of lives (even more if you count the family and friends of those I helped) and that fulfills me. I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to represent so many people who trusted me with their freedom.
