I am the Immigrants' lawyer because I also immigrated some years ago. I went through the immigration process before going to Law School and becoming a lawyer. I was a law clerk for the Presiding Judge in the 54th District in Lansing Michigan. I also worked as an immigration paralegal before becoming licensed as a lawyer. I have been practicing immigration law and Criminal defense now for more than 10 years.  I have passion for this work and treat it as a personal calling.

I represent people in Criminal matters but especially so for immigrants because criminal offenses do have immigration consequences far above and beyond the punishment in the Criminal justice system. So I defend these immigrants early in time to preserve their reliefs at the Immigration Court level when Removal Proceedings become inevitable.By the time the immigrant has become a United States Citizen, I help them own homes and businesses to solidify their American dream.

I had a great experience working with this lawyer
My impression of Mr Kanu is that he takes the time to listen to your situation before he makes any recommendations. He lets you explain all the reasons that have brought you to him. After you have explained your situation, he will then ask probing questions to make sure he understands the situation. After this he will then provide you with his feedback and let you know whether the case is viable or not. He will also let you know at that time what the fees are and how they are broken down, as well as other options that are available to you. I used Mr Kanu in the past for my green card and I am now using him to file for naturalization. During the green card process, he also discovered that my divorce had not gone through and he assisted me with that as well. During the green card process, I found that his time frames were very accurate. Mr Kanu is also very honest - he does not beat about the bush like some other lawyers - he is upfront about your case -whether good or bad. I would definitely recommend him for anyone who has any immigration issues.

Outstanding Attorney Ready to Go to Work for You
Solomon Kanu is the best attorney any client could ask for. Not only is he exceptionally knowldgeable about his job and the profession, he works hard for his clients and leaves no stone unturned. He is also very respectful and compassionate, and actually involves you in the case from start to finish. He's not presumtuous and doesn't make you feel like you're an idiot, just because you're not a lawyer. Even though he will not give you any guarantees, you can be sure he's on top of your case. Moreover, he is reasonable to work with regarding his fees, availability, etc. In my own case, Attorney Kanu handled an employment related case in 2005 involving frivolous sex discrimination allegation against me. That the matter did not end up in court was due to the finnesse with which he handled the amicable settlement. Without a doubt, it's because of Kanu & Associates that I'm still employed today. I'd use his services again should the need arise, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to any client who wants good value for their money and still prevail in their case.

E-2 Visas / Mexican Citizens
We were finding it vey difficult to find somebody who could review or situation and help us find the right option for applying to get work authorization in the U.S. and Mr. Kanu did just that. He did a great job in explaining the different ways we could do it and was very knowledgeable of the different types of visas specially for Mexican citizens. We succeeded and received our visas in a timely manner.

I have befriended a Cameroon husband and wife over the past eleven years while volunteering with a short term medical team there. Our friends' lives have been threatened by the dictator's government. Mr. Kanu was extremely helpful in leading us through the asylum process. My wife, I, and our Cameroon friends are very grateful for Mr. Kanu and his staff for their selfless help in attaining the Asylum Status.

Venerable
I hired kanu & Associates in 2015 for change of status from F1 to R1 and it was perfectly executed. Kanu & Associates facilitated the approval of my family's R2. Most recently the extension of both my R1 and my family's R2 were approved. It was kanu & Associates again that handled the case. If you want a law firm that can put your immigration problems to a final stop, go for kanu & Associates. Kanu & Associates, the best in immigration matters.

The BEST attorney team to work with
The entire team at Kanu & Associates is simply amazing! Very profession, yet personable at the same time... thorough and very patient. My appointed paralegal (B. Franco) and Mr. Kanu took all the stress and anxiety off my shoulders, which gave me the ability to relax. Knowing I was in good hands and my case was being handled the way imagined, allowed me to focus on what was important, my relationship with my husband and my family. Their attention to my case gave me the confidence I once had. Not just any law firm, but a place to express your concerns and be guided on a personal level as well. I give kudos to Kanu & Associates for handing everything on my behalf. I am truly grateful to them. Thank you!!!!

Best experience ever!
Used him for my I-140 nursing visa currently working on my citizenship with him. He also helped me with my husband's and mom's green cards. I had originally called him to do the H1B but he asked me why do that one when i can do the I-140 which would be faster and cheaper. Love his honesty. In the past he has done consultations for friends and he will tell you whether you have a good case or not and won't take your case. With one friend he told him the exact way his case was going to turn out

Exceptionally versed and experienced Immigration lawyer
Since going through immigration process was long and tedious in most cases, i was a little Leary. However i was pleasantly surprised with the way Solomon handle my case. He took my case without taking a penny from at the beginning of my case giving the situation i was in. He filed motions to the court in Buffalo, New York and have my case moved to phoenix. He is well experienced and versed in immigration law, and i can not forget the many personal counsel he gave me both on phone and in person. The staff are exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and helpful ( I can not forget the big hug by Consuelo when my green card was approved) always updating personal information as my wife and i moved twice during our case. I was able to obtain work authorization to work and have since received my green card in August 2010. I will definitely recommend him to my friends and family. He is good at what he does.

Helpful, friendly and result driven
Choosing Solomon for our immigration case was one of the biggest decisions my husband and I have made. Solomon responded to my request for information personally and within minutes of making the request. We spoke with a few other attorneys before we met Solomon, and he offered solutions that others had not. He is very experienced and well versed in immigration law. His staff was friendly and helpful, they were always available to help and answer questions throughout the whole process. We were able to obtain a work permit and Green Card for my husband with Solomon on our case. I have already recommended him to another couple, and he has been able to help them.

Rude Incompetent Attorney
This lawyer is completely incompetent, rude and unprofessional. We hired this firm for a simple green card application. The process of working with them has been a nightmare. There were over 10 mistakes in our forms that we had to find and correct ourselves. Major mistakes like names, birthdays, addresses, and inconsistencies between forms. A paralegal and one of the attorneys insisted that they never received our marriage certificate, and I had to explain to them that the signed recorded marriage license that says Cerificate of Marriage on it IS our marriage certificate. Then when I was reviewing our case file, there was paperwork from another client's file in our file! When I confronted Kanu, he started berating and scolding me, telling me that there have been too many complaints from me, and not to worry about it or involve myself in it because the mistakes didn't matter. Then he tried to blame me saying that his clerk can't do her work with me standing there. All I did was proofread our files because this application is very important to us, and rather than apologize for wasting so much of our time all he can do is belittle me and blame me like I did something wrong. I'm left stunned by the lack of care and respect this man has for us and our case.

Don't Do it! - You will regret it
I hired this attorney to represent my wife in a deportation hearing and it was the WORST and most costly mistake of my life I paid him $7,500 + an additional $2,000 for a waiver. Once you hand him your money his staff and Kanu's demeanor change, You are no longer that customer he wants to genuinely help but rather a bother to him and his staff, GOD FORBID you should call his office twice in a week because in doing so you risk Kanu threatening to drop your case stating "your too demanding" Getting a hold of your $7,500 attorney to ask a question either via email or phone is NOT part of your payment. in his own words..."He decides when he calls you, NOT when you want him to call you... As if things couldn't get any worst 2 months before my wife's immigration trial, Kanu left to go vacation in Africa with his family for nearly a month Lastly you are not allowed to get copies of ANYTHING when you ask for it, I asked many times via emails, and phone calls for nearly a month and never got anything, Only after I fired him and retained a new attorney was I able to get the files and its a good thing I did because there were a ton of errors that had they been submitted my wife's case would've been continued because of the lack of completeness. Today my wife is finally free, reunited with our family and is a legal resident of USA - No thanks to KANU... Save your money - Don't make the same costly mistake I did

Of course I disagree with all these false characterizations. I am shocked at all these statements. I did all the work very professionally and filed all the applications correctly and timely. When the client decided she wanted another lawyer I immediately transferred the entire file to the new lawyer. Luckily the judge granted the relief applicatins I filed. I am very happy for the client that she is now free. I wish her well and wish the writer good luck

Worst attorney EVER!
I hired this attorney to represent my wife in a deportation hearing and it was the WORST mistake of my life. His staff and Kanu's demeanor after you hire him is less than professional. Can't get a hold of him and no one in the office is willing to help you they have the "Your bothering me" attitude. The attorney left my wife's case to go vacation in Africa rather than fighting for my wife. After being paid in full he threaten multiple times to DROP her case stating I was too demanding simply because I ASKED QUESTIONS., He does not reply to emails, nor phone calls and lastly can't get copies of ANYTHING! - A month before her trial my wife begged me to find a new attorney and it was the best decision My wife is freed! and a legal resident - No thanks to KANU
