Brent G Messel

Brent received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Utah SJ Quinney College of Law in 2006, earning a certificate in environmental law at graduation. He has since served as General Counsel for three different software and technology companies, two of which were service providers to financial institutions. As such, he has expertise in the areas of law associated with financial transactions, real estate, consumer lending, financial reporting, and employment law, among others. He has extensive experience drafting and negotiating contracts on behalf of corporate entities, with a particular expertise in software licensing and software as a service. Brent has also represented lenders in consumer collection actions, including several fortune 500 financial institutions. He has extensive knowledge of Truth in Lending, RESPA, FDCPA, and other laws related to banks and financing. He has a broad base of experience, ranging from family law and estate planning to corporate litigation and financial reporting. Brent lives in South Jordan, Utah with his wife and five children. He enjoys distance running, hiking and travel. He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys talking to people from all walks of life. Brent enjoys the challenge of practicing law and finds personal satisfaction in helping his clients to solve and avoid potential problems.
