Angela H. Elmore

Angela H. Elmore has extensive experience in criminal defense, domestic law, Expungements/Pardons, Name/Gender Changes, as well as general civil litigation, practicing in various jurisdictions and courts throughout the State of Utah, as well as the 10th Circuit.

Prior to law school, Angela interned and worked as a clerk at the Salt Lake City Justice Court. Disconcerted by the legal system and its constant mistreatment of marginalized and unrepresented parties, Angela went on to complete her bachelor’s degree so that she could be more involved with the legal system.

After graduation, Angela worked for the Salt Lake County Public Defender’s Office as a legal secretary. Eventually feeling limited in her abilities to help her clients, Angela matriculated into law school and attended the University of Wyoming. After finishing her first year of law school in the top five of her class, Angela transferred to and ultimately graduated from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah.

Angela worked in private practice with Skordas, Caston and Hyde upon graduating from law school, where she handled anything from homicide charges and sodomy of a child, to minor traffic offenses. She then went on to work for herself in private practice, as a criminal defense attorney, under Elmore Law.

Various experiences both during and after law school gave Angela the drive to focus her career on providing affordable and quality resources to those commonly marginalized and taken advantage of by those in power or those with more resources, which led her to take a position as Managing Attorney of the Utah Legal Clinic Foundation, and the Utah Civil Rights and Liberties Foundation, to continue the work of Brian M. Barnard. She worked for the Clinic for seven and one-half years.

After the Clinic closed, Angela was determined to continue as much of the work Brian M. Barnard started, offering low-cost uncontested divorces, name/gender changes, and other low cost flat rate legal work like expungements and pardons, which she is currently doing at Elmore Law with her partner Adam Elmore.
