I have been practicing law for 40 years.    I have concentrated my practice on a broad range of legal services effecting older adults for at least 35 of those 40 years.  I practice elder law, planning for long-term care, estate planning, estate administration, probate, guardianship and conservatorship creation and administration, and business planning.

In addition to my law degree, I have a Masters in Business Administration.   I have helped my clients with organization, business strategies that provide for the asset protection, operational strategies and strategies for the continuation of their businesses after their retirement or death.

I am a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and I am a charter member of the Utah Bar Association Elder Law Section.   I use the most refined and advanced planning tools in the industry. I pride myself on my personal relationship with my clients during the planning process.  Many of my clients have been with me for between 20 and 30 years.

Wonderful experience with Mr. Shand
We hired Mr. Shand to set up our parents' trust. We were so pleased with the job he did, and with the friendly, compassionate, respectful way he treated my folks, that we are now having him do their Long Term Care planning as well. Bruce is a very fine Elder Law attorney, and my parents have recommended him to their friends.

An Excellent Attorney
Bruce has acted as legal council for me, my husband and our corporate entities for the last 25 years. We were owners of a large business with over 100 young employees. Bruce developed a very effective drug testing program and was very successful in personally educating these young folks on the taboos of using drugs. Bruce was the legal council for our private club business for nearly 20 years. He guided us through liquor laws and aided in developing new more reasonable laws as well. One of the most important cases which required Bruce's expertise was when he acted as a Liaison between the Federal Government and other legal representatives in our employ over an Eminent Domain battle. Bruce has aided us in the development of our retirement plan and has guided us for many years in our estate planning. He is very familiar and keeps very current on the estate taxation and other protection laws. He therefore is a large part of our lives today. Bruce was most instrumental and successful in settling our deceased Fathers estate. This whole ordeal was handled in less than a year of our Dad's passing.. Prior to and during our business relationships Bruce and his family have remained very close to us. He is not one who takes any matter lightly and when in his office and work mode, he is not a family friend, he is strictly business regardless of your association with him. I consider Bruce the best attorney we have ever worked with. We will continue do so do until he no longer in practice.

I have been very satisfied
Bruce and I have worked together on Estates issues for over 10 years. I have found Bruce to be honest, have good integrity, be concerned for my best interest and very knowledgeable about estate law. He got things done in a timely manner. He is kind and compassionate. He strives to achieve what is in my best interest. I will and have recommended him to friends.
