Jake was able to help me get it wrapped up from initial consult to official divorce in about four months. My ex, and I were able to do a lot of negotiating ourselves. Before committing to and hiring Jake and the Cowdin law group, I was afraid that no matter who I hired to represent me, I was fighting a losing battle and was destined to be taken advantage of by the system, my son's mom and her lawyer, and end up losing a lot of money doing it. I decided to use a mediation practice to draft the divorce paperwork and have the Cowdin & Gatewood team review the paperwork prior to signing. I met with Jake Cowdin today and am SO GRATEFUL that I did. On our Zoom call, we went item by item and I was given invaluable advice. Even though the pape...rwork was drafted by someone else, Jake maneuvered the language expertly. Essentially, what my ex and I agreed on in mediation was fine, but the language in the settlement left us both open to problems 5, 10, and even 30 (!!!) years down the road.
