DO NOT TRUST Tamara Sherilyn Basquez

I rarely write reviews, but my experience with this prosecutor warrants documentation. She handled my criminal case, which ultimately resulted in a full acquittal on all counts. What stands out most is not the verdict itself, but how the case was presented to the jury. In her opening statement,... she failed to disclose a critical piece of context: the allegations arose during an ongoing divorce and custody dispute. That omission mattered. It deprived the jury, at the outset, of information that directly related to potential motive and credibility. As the case progressed, the inconsistencies in testimony became increasingly apparent. Most notably, the state’s own key witness—my daughter—gave testimony that was so unreliable that the prosecutor attempted to impeach her own witness and have that testimony disregarded. Despite repeated efforts, the court did not allow that approach to override the jury’s role in evaluating credibility. The pattern that emerged was troubling: key context omitted early, followed by attempts to adjust course when the narrative did not hold. That is not what one expects from a representative of the state, whose duty is not merely to prosecute, but to pursue justice with fairness and transparency. The final verdict speaks for itself. I hope this office reflects on how cases like this are handled, because the integrity of the process matters as much as the outcome.
