While matriculating at the University of Idaho, David emphasized learning the litigation process and strategy and was the president of the mock trial team and a member of the Evidentiary Appellate Advocacy team. It was during this time that David was able to acquire a vast amount of skills needed to be an excellent litigator competing in competitions in Seattle, Washington and Brooklyn, New York.
