Rick Stacey represents general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, suppliers, sureties, lenders and project owners in all phases of construction litigation; drafting and negotiating construction contracts; and advising clients on legal issues arising throughout all phases of construction.
Rick has litigated and arbitrated all types and sizes of construction disputes including complex construction litigation/arbitration involving hundreds of thousands of pages of electronic information, prosecuting and defending against mechanic’s lien claims, and collection matters on behalf of construction and supply companies.
Rick has drafted and negotiated construction contracts for all types of construction projects. From complex engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) contracts on behalf of Fortune 500 companies to simple subcontract agreements on behalf of small construction subcontractors. Rick has extensive knowledge of most standard form construction agreements including those drafted by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), and the Engineering Joint Contract Document Committee (EJCDC) as well as the ConsensusDocs.
Rick also represents lenders, title companies, and property owners in all phases of real estate litigation and title insurance defense matters.
Rick is an Idaho native who has lived most of his life in Boise, Idaho. Prior to practicing law, he worked for nearly ten years within the construction industry performing general construction and project management work for a Boise landscape construction subcontractor. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Boise State University, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah College of Law. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association Litigation Section; the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry; and the Idaho Association of Defense Counsel. He is recognized by Mountain States Super Lawyers for his expertise in Construction Litigation and the National Trial Lawyers as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer. Rick is an avid golfer and actively involved board member at Hillcrest Country Club.
