Matthew Gene Deatley

I am a builder, maker, entrepreneur, and the founder of DeAtley Law, PLLC. I grew up in a business family – I would have been the fifth generation operating my family’s surface mining and aggregate business. My experience in the aggregate industry led me to start DeAtley Law, initially focusing on assisting small- and medium-sized mine operations during disputes with the Mine Safety and Health Administration. While doing this, I realized that I had no clients within 100 miles of my office – I was a virtual firm without meaning to be.

With this realization I began to think of how other areas of law could be adapted to the virtual law firm model. I discovered that my model of law firm is a perfect fit for entrepreneurial and business law. Small businesses typically cannot afford the high cost of old-school attorneys and therefore do not seek the legal support they need. With a virtual law firm, I can provide businesses with proactive legal strategy and development — all while keeping my overhead costs down. I can then pass that savings onto my client. Making a call to the attorney is something my clients are not afraid to make.
