My case was unique in that I live in another country but needed to change my divorce settlement. Most lawyers were either uninterested in the added challenge of an out-of-country client or displayed an antagonistic attitude towards me for needing to revise my settlement. Jeff Sheehan was everythi...ng I could have wanted in a lawyer. We worked through Skype and he was effective in getting the job done. Without him, I believe I'd still be struggling with what felt like an impossible situation. Jeff Sheehan's efficiency made the whole situation about as painless as it could be. My only regret is that he wasn't my lawyer during the initial divorce. If you need someone that gets results, Mr. Sheehan is the right choice. If you need someone that can empathize with clients, Mr. Sheehan is still the right choice.

We have worked Mr. Sheehan for more than two years. He has always been professional. However, it is what he did in our adoption that we want to give him a high rating for. We were involved in an out of state adoption. The attorney we had to hire in that state was less than professional, causing the a...doption process to be delayed. Jeff was always within a phone call to answer questions and give advice. Seeing that the attorney needed assistance, Jeff took on work that was more than required. He was up late working for hours making sure that the other attorney had every document he needed to complete the out state paperwork. Without his is assistance, advice, and genuine compassion, this adoption may not have happened. There were multiple times that we were so grateful to have Jeff as our attorney to get us through this journey. We would recommend him for your adoption process. He is professional, returns all emails and calls timely, and is very knowledgeable about adoption laws. He is also a compassionate person who cares for his clients.

We hired Jeff to represent the birth mother in a private adoption, and although he was pleasant at first things became difficult when we started asking any questions about fees and/or expenses. We consistently got the feeling that we were simply supposed to happily sign everything and pay anything wi...thout asking questions. We understand that adoption is expensive but we still like to have things clear and have our questions answered, especially about large financial transactions. Any questioning or hesitation on our part was met with a reminder that there were “many, many adoptive families available” who would be happy to take the child we were hoping to adopt. When we emailed/talked with him it was like he thought we didn’t deserve to be the adoptive parents for the baby. He asked us to pay birth mother living expenses upfront, before getting approval from the court as required, saying he would send us a copy of the court’s approval when he got it (he never did send this) but instead sent us a guilt-inducing email for wanting to “pay as we go” versus pre-paying all anticipated costs (legal retainer, birth mother living expenses etc.), saying that the birth mother had “real bills” to pay (unlike us apparently). He wouldn’t give us a statement so we could see the balance of the retainer we’d paid him, saying he would just send us the final bill. The bill came late, two weeks past the “due date” listed, and was 25% higher than the estimate in our fee agreement, which was already above the range he had initially quoted us for an interstate adoption. When I asked about the overages since our case was very straightforward with no complications, he offered no explanation and just told me it was all there in the bill. Ultimately, Jeff did the work we hired him to do and got along very well with the birth mother, but the process was frustrating and painful.
