He was hired to help me draft a writ of demand. After hearing about my situation he said he would have a draft for me within a week and ghosts me for a couple months despite multiple emails and calls asking why he missed the deadline he set. I contact his office instead of him personally and ask what...'s going on. He finally gets back to me because the office didn't like that he was ghosting me. The quality of the writing was very poor and did not accurately reflect what I told him about the situation. It also cited a law that didn't exist and quoted what was supposed to be a relevent segment from law, but it was just garbled nonsense that I couldn't find in any legal statutes. I ran it through a website that checks for AI and it came back as 100% written by AI. He then tried to bill me a huge amount for it (about eight times more than the average writ of demand cost in this area). The bill was cancelled by his boss after his boss read the writ of demand, deemed it to be insufficient quality, and we separated unamicably.

Derek has been an amazing resource and attorney. He has helped to set up my business correctly and with contractual questions. He also goes out of his way to make sure that you are taken care of the best way possible even if that means having you work with a colleague.
