My son had a school issue and the school staff called the department of human services. I met with this lawyer myself (my husband was overseas on military duty) and he said that he knew the law on DHS and family law. I was worried that DHS would take custody of my son without a court hearing with me... there. He said that this would not happen. Well a few days later DHS took my son without a hearing where I could be in court. He demanded a huge retainer but did not do anything to prevent the DHS action. So now DHS had my child. Then he assigned a new attorney instead of representing me. When we finally got summoned to court, no one in court new this new lawyer, the the judge basically scolded this attorney for not knowing what he was doing. The after many days his office contacted me and said "we have spend all your retainer and quite a bit more and we won't do anything else for you unless you pay us a several thousand dollar retainer. There was never any notice that the retainer was running low much less that they had spent several thousand dollars beyond the retainer. I fired these guys and then they started going into collection type actions the next day. This is the type of person I think of when I hear all the attorney horror stories. I got another lawyer that someone in the courthouse knew of and the difference was huge. Since the I had to hire different attorneys since then and they all have been okay to very good and that showed me how terrible this lawyer was for me. I would not hire this guy to mow my lawn.
