Mason Chandler Simpson

Mason C. Simpson is a member of Business Law Group’s litigation practice section. He was trained as a litigator in New York City by three international law firms and a United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York for whom Mason clerked.

After more than 16 years of practice, in 2018, Mason left his New York office to fulfill his dream of returning to Colorado Springs where he grew up in the 1980s. Since his return to Colorado, Mason has successfully tried or settled multiple breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and other business tort cases and has also tried or successfully settled and resolved multiple cases involving real property and related transactions, including home owner association disputes, and developer and zoning issues. Mason also practices in the banking, advertising, private equity, pharmaceutical, transportation, gaming, and securities industries. He is admitted to practice in Colorado and New York and in multiple Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mason frequently leads complex litigation and has lead, managed, or participated in numerous sensitive special and independent committee investigations concerning corporate fraud and mismanagement, insider trading, foreign payments, and accounting restatements.

A major part of the litigation philosophy and strategy Mason employees is creativity. In nearly every fact pattern involving a dispute, there are multiple solutions and approaches, and Mason has come to learn over his multiple years of experience that often it is the non-obvious approach that is the best path forward when animosity and uncertainty have reached their zeniths and the disputing parties see no clear road to resolution before them. Approaching disputed issues creatively permits the parties to focus on something other than resentment and tit-for-tat vituperation.

While Mason’s primary focus is on complex commercial litigation and business disputes, no matter is too small or simple for Mason, and every case he takes, be it moderately consequential or a matter of life and death, he treats as his most important matter. Mason strongly believes that everyone with a legal problem deserves the absolute best from his or her lawyers, and Mason makes certain that only first-class work product leaves his desk. Each of his clients receives excellent advocacy, support, and a creative approach to problem or dispute resolution.

In addition to commercial litigation and other trial work, Mason also engages in real estate and manufacturing transactional work, including deals involving the manufacturing of products in China sold by American enterprises, from golf clubs to novelty items.

Prior to attending law school, Mason was an I.A.T.S.E. stage electrician and lighting engineer, working in live theater, television and film for some of the greatest talents at the greatest venues in the country. Projects and shows Mason worked for include the Grammy Awards, the MTV Music Awards, The Emmy Awards, The Tony Awards, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Show Boat, Peter Pan, Metallica, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Smashing Pumpkins, Whitney Houston, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Kool and the Gang, Frank Sinatra, Green Day, Barry Manilow, Primus, Tool, Korn, The Gypsy Kings, Soundgarden, Richard Marxx, and many, many others.
