I should start by saying he is difficult to get a hold of, and even with persistence, he won't return phone calls. I began my case with him and didn't hear back for a couple of weeks, despite reaching out on 3 separate occasions. When I decided to cancel the process, he charged me $400 for draf...ting up a Petition of Parental Responsibilities. This form may have taken 10 minutes to fill out, and realistically, was done by his secretary or paralegal. Regardless, the form simply consists of my name/address, my son's, and my son's father's. I requested an itemized receipt for the time spent on my case and was not provided one. I even asked him over the phone if he had an estimate, and he chuckled, saying he'd need to add it up. He was the most affordable attorney I could find, and it's a shame because I was hoping for help. Instead he handled my short-lived case with dishonesty and poor ethical judgment.

I agree with Cari. Kent is unorganized and sloppy. Kent failed to prepare proper documents because he did not know which court forms to use and failed to respond to court deadline. Make sure to keep master of all the paper works for yourself, otherwise Kent will loose them. I also had to retain ...a new attorney to settle my case in much efficient and less expensive manner. My new lawyer told me that Kent is either really stupid who does not know what is he doing or he is just after your money by dragging your case. You want to find an aggressive lawyer who works in a law firm with several other lawyers. Never retain a lawyer who works by himself. Time is critical, you must act in a timely manner to respond to court orders. And if your lawyer does not know how to handle your case, then he or she should admit it upfront and should tell you that immediately to seek help from another lawyer rather than dragging the case and just collecting money from you.

I hired Kent in 2010 and paid him over $20,000 for a family custody/domestic violence case and while I was out of state he failed to be in court prepared for my case and now I am paying the price. I have retained a new attorney that is representing me 100% better. Kent is a great guy, an outstandin...g talker in courts, yet he fails to be prepared. He is unorganized and make sure you always give him a copy and keep the master for yourself as he WILL loose them. You are the attorney and he is the one to tell your story but never prepared with proper documents when it counts. He is really good at taking your money and dragging out your case for years not doing anything but circle the court system in El Paso County!

Kent is very reasonably priced and from start to finish he and his staff were on top of our termination of parental rights/adoption case. Everything was always clearly and thoroughly explained and Kent was very patient and knowledgeable answering all of our questions and concerns. He also saw and ke...pt our kids' best interests at hand. He made us feel comfortable and confident in the outcome of our particular case. I would recommend Kent to anyone looking for a desirable and reasonably timed conclusion to their case. Hands down the best attorney we have ever hired.
