Serious Risks for Prospective Clients

Serious Risks for Prospective Clients I was a client of this law firm in an appellate matter and believe it is necessary to warn prospective clients about serious risks based on my experience with the firm. A substantial fee was paid for the preparation of an appellate brief. For several months..., I was repeatedly informed that work was in progress and that the situation was under control. However, as the court-imposed deadline approached, it became clear that no filing-ready document had been prepared. An appeal is a procedure governed by strict deadlines, the violation of which may result in the loss of the right to review the decision. In my case, events were moving in exactly that direction. Critical questions went unanswered in a timely manner, and no objective information about the actual status of the work was provided, depriving me of the opportunity to take protective action earlier. As a result, in order not to lose my appellate rights, I was forced to urgently educate myself on appellate requirements and prepare the filing pro se under extreme time pressure. This was accompanied by significant financial losses, severe stress, and the risk of irreversible consequences for my case. Despite the absence of a usable result from the firm, the fees paid were not refunded. In addition to losing a substantial amount of money and being forced to perform appellate-level work on my own, the firm has completely ignored attempts to resolve the dispute and has refused constructive engagement. As a result, I have had to expend significant time, financial, and emotional resources in an effort to recover my losses. To protect my rights, I was compelled to обратиться to the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel and am preparing further actions through the Colorado Bar Association. It is important to understand that not every client has the physical and psychological capacity to endure such a situation or to perform appellate-level work independently under severe time constraints. In circumstances like these, a client risks losing money, time, and procedural opportunities simultaneously. This review reflects solely my personal experience with this firm. If your matter involves high stakes and strict deadlines, I strongly recommend carefully evaluating the risks and ensuring that the firm can truly provide timely and effective representation, as well as act in good faith if problems arise.

Code of Ethics

In January 2024 I hired Heather Atkinson to represent me in my child custody case. Heather and Donna (paralegal) were wonderful representation. I knew they cared about myself and my case. Opposing council, representing the other party, was Greg Maceau. In about August 2024, Heather contacted me to le...t me know that Mr. Maceau would be moving over to Andrew Bryant’s law firm, and that it would be ok. My trial was set for October 2024, and two days prior to trial, Ms. Atkinson was disqualified from representing me due to Andrew Bryant's hire being against the lawyer code of ethics. Obviously this was very distressing after already waiting for 10 months to go to trial, and spending a lot of money and time. I do not think it is the best idea to hire Andrew Bryant as your representing law firm. It might just cost you an extra $15k to your lawyer fees. And while your attorney might care about your case, Andrew Bryant surely doesn't.

Arrogant lazy attorney that doesn’t meet deadlines or value you as a client.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Andrew Bryant in my custody case. From the start, it was clear that his focus was more on padding hours than on delivering results. He missed critical deadlines, including one to file paperwork, which led to my son starting the new school year with his... mom due to his lack of effort. He also suggested we hire a Child and Family Investigator (CFI), but when the CFI didn’t do her job, Andrew did nothing to hold her accountable. Instead, he acted like she was the one paying him, not me, and treated her with more respect than he did me. In our meetings, he was unprofessional, often distracted by side conversations and emails instead of paying attention to my case. Later, I found out through his paralegal that he was padding hours to make more money off of me. I eventually had enough and fired him, requesting a refund for the work he didn’t do. He refused to give me back my money. I then hired Kyle Getchey, who immediately took charge of the case, challenged the CFI’s work, and got the judge to order her to redo her investigation. Thanks to Kyle’s diligence, I was granted full custody of my son. Andrew Bryant was a complete waste of time and money. I would strongly advise against hiring him for any legal matters in Colorado Springs.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
